FL: Brevard County sticks by tough ordinance restricting sex offenders

Source: floridatoday.com 8/8/22

Brevard County commissioners reaffirmed their tough stance toward registered sex offenders by making only making minor changes to a regulation limiting where they can go — even as the measure is being challenged in court.

The commission updated section 74 of the county code on Tuesday to allow businesses to register as a park so long as the business is used for recreation and is a place that children regularly visit. That will enable the owner to create a 1,000-foot buffer zone prohibiting any individual on the sex offender registry from visiting the site or transacting business.

“I think I have spoken pretty passionately on this item,” Commission Chair Kristine Zonka said. “I just wish people would stop calling themselves registered citizens and call themselves registered sex offenders or registered predators, which is really what they are. They are so proud to be here and demand rights.”

Can we all agree that Florida is full of whacked out nut jobs.

“I just wish people would stop calling themselves registered citizens and call themselves registered sex offenders or registered predators, which is really what they are. They are so proud to be here and demand rights.”

– Commission Chair Kristine Zonka

Yeah, well Zonka – YOU can put on make-up and a nice suit and call yourself a politician and a servant people all you want – but WE ALL KNOW you’re just another slimy POS opportunistic mud sucking snake pandering to public fear to curry votes from the ignorant masses. But hey – if you can call yourself whatever you like – well that goes both ways. So DEAL with that!

It doesn’t surprise me in the slightest that Florida once again is DOUBLING DOWN ON STUPID. The greatest irony of this is that it will do ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to curtail sex crimes in the future. In fact, new sex crimes will be committed not only by people outside of the Registry but by the very people who uphold those same stupid laws and other figures of authority and power.

Speaking of which – what’s Matt Gaetz’s position on these issues in light of his own sex trafficking allegations? No need to answer – this was rhetorical…;-)

“I think I have spoken pretty passionately on this item,” Commission Chair Kristine Zonka said. “I just wish people would stop calling themselves registered citizens and call themselves registered sex offenders or registered predators, which is really what they are. They are so proud to be here and demand rights.”

Further proof that the registrant class is not viewed as equal citizens. Zonka is on record admitting that registrants do not deserved to be identified as equal citizen, but only monsters that do not deserved to have equal rights.

More evidence for ACSOL at the SCOTUS level.

Well, I am glad that they will have murderers and drug dealers live near these ‘parks”. Much safer, don’t you think? What is in Florida’s water that makes them so pathetic, ignorant and dumb? They deserve having other criminals besides “registrants’ live near their beloved children. Good luck with this.

I just wish people would stop calling themselves registered citizens and call themselves registered sex offenders or registered predators, which is really what they are. They are so proud to be here and demand rights.” 😫

Aww, poor boo-boo is upset that we won’t use her preferred & ever-disparaging epithets. 😭

What a P.O.S.💩 Madame Chair is!! 😡

Well golly commissioner! Let’s not stop there. How bout calling us “predators forced to register” or “registered demons” or “registered people coming for your young ones” I know it don’t take much noggin to be a commissioner in a Brevard County Floriduh. Just cake on a bunch of make up and make passionate speeches against those evil pervs amongst us.

The gall of the commission chair saying those people demand rights. Those people are just demanding the same constitutional rights as everyone else. Jeez… She thinks there should be selective enforcement of the constitution.

LMAO that photo of John Tobia, the bill’s sponsor. Look up “I think you should leave Brian’s hat” on YouTube.

That will enable the owner to create a 1,000-foot buffer zone prohibiting any individual on the sex offender registry from visiting the site or transacting business.

It seems to me there’s an easier answer to this. The businesses simply post a sign saying “Nobody covered by Megan’s Law allowed inside” or some other offensive drivel. Once again, Amerika, and especially Floriduh, wants to legislate something nearly unenforceable. Beyond that, what benefit does any sort of buffer provide, since a business has walls, doors, windows, and maybe even fences, to keep people away. If someone is protected by a physical barrier, where’s the risk? Or do they think PFRs can teleport? Or perhaps PFRs can walk through walls?

“I think I have spoken pretty passionately on this item,” Commission Chair Kristine Zonka said. “I just wish people would stop calling themselves registered citizens and call themselves registered sex offenders or registered predators, which is really what they are. They are so proud to be here and demand rights.”

YES! Two things in this paragraph make me celebrate. 1) Registered Citizens has entered (semi-)common usage. 2) It sticks in Ms. Zonka’s craw.

I guess PFRs aren’t citizens in her view?

I hope their idiocy costs them thousands upon thousands of dollars.

these are some good comets, I wish you guys could of actually said that to her face.
Dose anyone know where Mrs Zonka lives I’m pretty sure its not hard to find as well as other politicians who don’t see us as human beings.
Maybe we can show up in their neighborhoods to help educate them.

The requirements placed against those on the sex offender registry as applied is unreasonable…it is like outlawing them to get wet but not allowing them shelter before the rain.  Making and pushing popular punitive laws as far as possible …it’s like telling them we are going to cut off your arm but they complain then you say ok we’ll cut off your hand but still they complain then finally you get a choice to make it easer. We’ll cut off a finger and guess what we’re going to let you pick the finger.  Sheesh, and the poor stupid soul is so beaten down he thinks they are somehow doing him a favor by giving him a choice!!!. So much of this kind of BS is put on all of society…from pay taxes when you make money, for when you buy something and even at your death. Driving should be free of a license requirements after a few years of good driving, but no…then we pay Insurance, registration of anything and everything else…on and on it goes. We in society have been so beaten down we feel good about seeing someone else worst off than us. ie. those on the sex offender registry, those in prison, those sick and lame. Well, I am not being abuse as bad as my neighbor!!! Uh, to be Christian or even a patriotic American we should stand against tyranny where ever it is…do it for your families, ur children’s future and their children… We send our representative to the state and nation capitals to hold government accountable to the people not to make laws to shackle and restrict the people!!! Where should we start? We should at the feet of those most abused…Matt. 25:40

This whole thing is disgusting and absurd. These clowns are going to waste time and money harassing a group of people who probably posed little to no threat, instead of…oh I don’t know doing something not stupid instead? Just, I’ve found “not stupid” to be a pretty good choice most of the time.

The saddest part however is the aftermath. I would love to say that no SFR ever…gets back into trouble. I would love to say that, but it is not true. That makes this even worse. If, among these harassed and abused people, there was someone struggling to stay out of trouble…this is not going to help. Who pays the price there? These clowns just make everything worse for everyone. Encouragement, assistance, and God forbid, a touch of compassion, works far more wonders than harassment and abuse. Apparently, I am wrong about that?

As hurtful as this clown’s words are, look on the bright side? These are exactly the kinds of words (and actions) that get shoved down the state’s throat later on.’ It’s really hard to look at this, then lie to a judge about how none of this is punitive. Well, maybe not hard to lie, but hard to believe

I’d rather achieve this bright side without all this cost, but few people care what I want these days.
